Obviously the companies who develop mind reading software are not going to put their muscle behind that fractional market. There's really no such thing as a philanthropic corporation.
Welcome to the new world of courtroom drama. |
:stongue:
Really, dude...why do you hate the advancement of science so much? |

Rubbish. Niche markets are just as lucrative as mass markets, you just need to get in early and grab a large slice of the pie.
Your outlook on life is far too negative. If humans didn't care about each other, we wouldn't be the only species that heals it's sick and keeps people alive who rightfully should have died long ago, all at the detriment of society.
You're completely out of touch with modern values and society. |

Ok, we'll see who is right. I hope you are.
Electricity was once a niche market, what do you think of that? |

What the hell does that have to do with anything? |

| What do niche markets have to do with the fact that science and technology has always been and always will be abused? |

Electricity was an invention originally for a niche market that had the opportunity to transform the world, which it has sense done on large scale because it was very useful and profitable, and because everyone ultimately wanted it.
Substitute 'Electricity' with 'Mind-reading Software'.
What salesmen/search engine/advertiser wouldn't like to be able to read minds?
I can see it now: 'Google Mind' Smart Phone. Apple iThink.. |

Indeed, mass consumed goods and services once started small...and now are essential for the function of modern society.
Technology and Science will always change the fabric of society, and the furthur we go from a nature based society, the worse off the life of the individual human will be. Because the technology and science will force humans to change in a way that will be deterimental to our human nature. All a human really needs is their nature and the surrounding nature. Man made objects (information and technology) pull us away from this nature...especially info and technology that can be abused. |

I somewhat agree with your post, but surely advancement in technology is not always a "bad" thing? Unless it's in the wrong hands, then yes..oh is what.
What I can see happening is people will become too attached to Materialism due to the wicked ass technology we have today and will no longer be in touch with their spirituality, humanity, mother nature (and the hippy c0r will jump on my nuts for if I continue spewing it)...oh wait..It's like this in certain parts of the world, no?
Now if the entire population of humans experienced some sort of spiritual shift...I think technology & humanity can advance together in a stable state, but this is obviously wishful thinking because we have a lot of to patch up. maybe too much. |

Why? I have full control of what i'm doing and thinking. Just because I see a problem with the future of technology, doesnt mean I should log off. There is more to learn...
I can use technology instead of it using me. Cause I be self realizinggg homie. |

That's going to be a hard argument to win.
I always understand I'm a kind of hypocrite when I use the computer to talk about the evils of technology :p
The simple fact is you have to choose your battles. I buy a new computer maybe once every 6-7 years, I don't have a smart phone, I dont have a television, I dont get newspapers delivered, I bring my own bags to go shopping, I don't own a car (I bike) or walk, I buy as much local food as I can afford, in season, etc. |
