Well, I'm sorry to rain on their parade, but no one has any 'self' apart from their physical form. Your physical body is your true self in its entirety.
Don't get me wrong: as far as I'm concerned, anyone can reject whatever concept of "gender" they perceive the society around them to have prescribed and substitute their own. In fact, I fully encourage it; or, better yet, reject it without substituting your own idea of gender and just reject the idea of gender on a conceptual level.

Would your parents do that for you? Put you on female Growth hormone treatment at the age of 12? It's incredible how her family trusted and understood her judgement...my parents would pass it off as a temporary phase at that age and keep it as that :eek:

Ya its pretty amazing. On the other hand she like right off the bat started acting like a girl, before you could really say that a gender identity could be imprinted on her via her surroundings. It really seems like in this case where it was literally a girl in every sense of the word except for the external body.
