Crescendos and Holding a sound that dynamically changes pitch in FL Studio...

Can anyone help me with this? I think what I need to understand has to do with envelopes, but I am totally not grasping it.

I need to be able to hold a note(sound) but have it change pitch gradually for a bar or two (I guess that means I'm not actually holding the note...)

Also I need to learn how to make a crescendo or diminuendo (dynamic change of volume) over the course of a couple bars. How do I do these things guys? Please help me.

Thanks. :)

Automation clips. For any native FL synths or knobs/switches/whatever just right click and click "Create Automation Clip". To edit volume you'd create an automation clip on the volume knob of whatever channel you want to apply it to and then edit it on the playlist, fairly straightforward. For things that you can't right click, usually on third-party VSTis, you just move the knob/whatever slightly, drop down the menu on the top left, go over "Last Tweaked Parameter" and then pick "Create Automation Clip"

Changing pitch can be done on native FL synths with the slide function, which is on the top left of the piano roll, the button with the triangle on it. That creates sliding notes. So, say you have a regular C playing for two bars, and you create a slide note on the E above it for 1 measure, it'll take 1 measure to slide up to that note. For third party VSTi's you need to find a pitch parameter and create an automation clip to do slides, as far as I know. I don't really mess with stuff like that.

Thank you for the information about automation clips.

One question. I've included an automation clip which is attached to my main synth channel. I put it in the playlist just under the main synth line but it doesn't seem to be doing anything to it? I've adjusted all the points on the clip, to no avail. What am I doing wrong?

When you create an automation clip it should place it in the playlist automatically. Beyond what you're doing wrong I don't know, unless you want to put a screenshot up or something
