| I love the ppl who have stuck through all the attacks and fights, including myself. So many ppl register and then get angry and intimidated by TOTA and then peace out. It's all the ones who stay and get through the "initiation period" (for lack of a better word) that make TOTA fun! |

This is kind of going back to my original thought where i was saying i like the way it was a while back we had more welcome threads for new members. I just feel like some time new people get picked on or called out by the more experienced member on their knowledge of the scene and likes of music etc.. maybe its because some people act like know it alls maybe because we have some new elitists or maybe because we don't see who is new to scene. This is just an observation i'm not pointing any fingers nor am i implying anyone specific just saying as general statement.
What i always loved about this scene is how welcoming it was to new people and the unity that we had because of our love for electronic music. I remeber posting i need a ride to a party and getting msges from people i never met who said there willing to pick me up, those were some of the best nights its how i met a lot of you :D <3 ! We all started somewhere, for example i started with Hard Acid Techno and i can only handle it in small doces right now. So if to someone who is new the drive at 5 is what he knows as house music its a start imo. In 2 years time i'm sure it wont be the same if they stick around. Lets make an effort spread the love!

I pretty much talk to/friends with everyone who used to flame me religiously back in the day :) |

I don't think that's different though. If someone were to post in a thread asking for a ride, or asking for help with something there would still be a lot of people willing to help out. Hell, I posted a thread a few months ago saying that I was looking for a sublet for the summer and the guy from TOTA who messaged me ended up having a great place available, and Ian and I are subletting his place for the summer. This is after weeks and weeks of searching on Craigslist and Kijiji and having no luck with ppl who responded to our ads on those sites as well.
I think that TOTA has been like this for a LONG time. When I joined there was definitely still that "initiation." And in fact, I was warned about it by the friend who introduced me to TranceAddict b/c he went through the same thing. Personally I don't mind it b/c I think it makes things interesting, and as long as ppl learn to not take the internet so seriously they'll realize it's all in good fun too. |
