Ever since I started to learn production, when I hear music, now I am able to take the songs apart in my head. Now I can also hear little details that I never noticed before. lol I guess it's a good thing, but it bugs the out of me. lol

Sure. I love it, personally.

I knew a professional producer who would pick apart songs and identify instruments, technique, et al. It can be great fun.

The better you get, the more this happens. The problem is that it has a tendency to take the magic out of the music.

True, that is. The "How-in-the-?" (did he/she do THAT?) moment is mostly few and far between.

+1 sometimes I get envious at the great production, and I get annoyed at myself for not being able
to pull something like that off myself .

And that's why it bugs me. Because it takes the magic away. Sometimes I hear a song on the radio that everyone is all talking about, than when I pay attention to it, I'm like ! THIS IS WEAK!!! lol

It's just part of being a producer, man, get used to it. The more you learn about something, the less mystique it is going to have.

I get everybody's point here, but to be honest, I'm usually more impressed when someone can take something incredibly simple and make it sound phenomenal, much more so than I am in someone who can work technological marvels. The former usually comes down to the artist's pure talent and the ability to deliver a stunning performance combined with the producer's ability to recognize that talent and take it somewhere special. That's something that can't be faked or imitated from reading a tutorial - it takes practice and dedication.

ive donne this since the day i was born. i cant hear a track as a total, but only the single sounds separately. no wonder edm became my favorit, have u heard parts separated in other types of music? it sucks.
