so my tax return is coming in any day now, and my current laptop is ready to get upgraded, so I was wondering if anyone knew any quality laptops around the $750 range or so.
let me start off by saying I do not want a mac. other than that, I'd like something decently portable (preferably 14"ish, maybe smaller) and I'd also like to stay away from HP, gateway, and the such. I hear asus makes really well built laptops.
it doesn't need to be a gaming machine or anything, I would simply be using office programs and internet surfing for the most part (maybe an occasional simple game). HDMI would be cool, but it is definitely not a necessity. |

| Never bought a laptop, but my experience with asus products has been nothing but excellent. |

Its fine as long as you're not looking for a desktop replacement to play heavy duty games. I like small screen laptops because it makes it easy to carry and after all portability is what laptops are for.
As far as the brand its a standard consumer laptop, they're pretty much all the same. |

yeah, like I mentioned, this is mainly for simple tasks. I may play an occasional game, but I know not to really try any intensive ones or to expect much... I have my desktop for that.
as for the portability, I currently own one that's 15.6" and I feel that can be too bulky at times (on a plane it takes up the entire table and if the guy in front leans back I need to close the screen a bit to keep it open). 13.3" sounds like a nice size.
I know I'm paying a bit more because of the i3 processor being new and all... does anyone know if it's worth the price? or would it be a better bang for the buck if I got a core 2 duo or something? |

| The thing I forgot to mention is check the laptop out in person before buying. I got one that I really like except for the screen. It's one of those ones with a hard plate of plastic on top of the screen. It makes it easy to clean and protects it from damage but the glare is just awful when there is too much light in the room. |
