Quick, someone turn on Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs! Cash Cab PLZZZ |
Actually, I don't really mind those shows as much, they're at least more focused on the actual point of the show as opposed to showing the participants yelling at each other and "acting". |

Oh em gee, gotta watch more shows featuring pointless drama between people no one would otherwise care about. Quick, lemme change the channel and get my Ice Road Truckers fix. |
Actually, all those other shows that spawned from DC ARE complete crap (Ice Road Truckers, Swamp Loggers, American Loggers, etc.)
DC is actually really well done overall. (See last season when one of the non-featured boats sank. Pretty powerful stuff, especially when on of the video camera clips from a survivor shows the crew talking about the upcoming doomed trip, and one of the guys who didn't make it says something on the vid. to the effect of "man, I hope everything goes alright on this next trip. I don't wanna end up on Deadliest Catch!") :nervous: |

The first couple of seasons were entertaining and, for the most part, educational. After a while it was apparent that it would be impossible to keep the show interesting, so it has started to get stale.
Having said that, most of the main captains (Keith, Phil [RIP], Sig, etc.) are all locals. I'd ran into Phil two times at Best Buy and the guy was incredibly down to earth. Sig regularly eats at a local casino and has my dad on speed dial for meal comps (my dad runs the food/beverage portion of the place). Nice fellow, as well.
But yeah... educational at first, stale after a while. |

yeah this is what drew me to the show initially. i don't actively follow it like i did the first 2 seasons but if it's on and i'm i find myself by the television i'll normally watch. |

Yeah he died about 2 months ago after suffering a stroke during the filming of the opilio crab season. Pretty sad but not all that unexpected. | I will watch only because i hope they show him dying.
His 24 hour a day smoking and redbull drinking was obviously not a good habit. I expect to have many lulz. |

Ya Seattle is still a big fishing town. So many giant ass fishing/crabbing boats in the interbay area. Those things are just disturbingly large. |

| Yeah man, right between Queen Anne and Ballard is a ing haven for Bering Sea fishing boats. I love that area. Stephanie ended up going out in Fremont one night a few years back, got haaaaaaaaaaaaaammered, broke into the docks with a couple of her friends and snuck onto the Northwestern and took a load of photos. :wtf: |

| The Deadliest Catch has spawned a wave of "blue collar" reality show garbage on almost every educational-type channel. Pawn Stars came out and I was like, ok. Then Loggers debuted, and I was like FUUUUU. Now Swords, apparently a show about swordfishing, makes me want to go on a rampage. At least there's Life, but that just looks like Earth II. |
