Hey fellow TAs! I'm a New York TA, hoping all is well on the other side of the earth!

I will be traveling to Leipzig, Germany in July - and would like to know if anyone knows of any trance clubs in that area? I can't seem to find ANYTHING - but maybe you guys can help?

I see Tijs will be playing in Berlin on 07/31 - is it far to get there from Leipzig? May I utilize the Eurail?

Help! Greatly appreciated - and if anyone would show me around - I'm totally up for meeting and making new friends!

Hi there!

Im living in this area :) (and working in Leipzig)
But trance clubs? here in leipzig? im not sure if here is one. I never fond it. We have here only special events with trance music, but i dno if it is in this time, when u r coming.

Berlin is not so far, you can travel within 2-3 hours (approx.). Dresden is also around 2 hours from Leipzig. sometimes there also some trance parties. Maybe you can visit "house of summer"-festival. its electronic music, but maybe they will play there trance too (for some year Kyau & Albert played there). the HOS-festival is in the near of Görlitz (near of Dresden).

but i travel to NL or in the south and west of germany for trance-parties. there are better and more parties. :P

Hi Neon :)

Well, maybe I can help you since I lived a couple of years in Leipzig. But even if you probably find not that much trance around there - I'm quite sure you'll love the city anyway :)

As estaria already wrote, there are no fixed trance clubs. But there are a lot of (well... more or less legal...) Psy-Trance and Goa party's around there - especially in the summer. The problem is that you won't find an ad or something for that so it might could be useful to tell us the date when you are going to be in Leipzig :)

If you are also a little bit into Techno, Drum'n'Bass and House, then I might have some nice (a 100 per cent legal :P ) suggestions for you.

First of all there is a more or less famous club called Distillery (more info) . To me it has this typical Techno feeling. The venue is a little battered but nonetheless it is very cool. I - personally - love it :)

Secondly there is the club Velvet (more info) and if you are lucky they are going to play some nice house tunes as well. I've been there only once but a couple of friend of mine, who are also very into electronic stuff, go there quite often so it can't be that bad.

Anyway - there is a third - as far as I know - quite new one in the city center. It is called Bachstatt (more info) and is probably another nice option to have a little party.

Well, those were the go's. Here are the no go's :D Please do your self a favor and DON'T VISIT:

- Volkspalast
- Schauhaus and
- TV Club

I don't know how long you are planning to stay in Leipzig, but if you have the chance you should definitely go to Dresden. The city is nice and of course there are also a couple of nice clubs :)

Berlin will be definitely an option for you. The high-speed-trains (ICE) seem to be covered by your eurail pass and take a little more than 1 hour for the trip. They start on an hourly basis with the exception of the typical party hours (last one arriving in Berlin about 23:00, heading back to Leipzig from about 6:00).

Dresden is about 1:30h by train and has some nice historical sites to visit. Parties there tend to be more on the house side.

For Leipzig, see Vanditines post with two additions:
1) bachstatt is now called CaveClub and might change its name again before July :haha: . The music is pretty good but the audience is a little young for my taste.
2) unless you want to pick up a girl and get drunk quick and cheap so the music doesn't matter, dont go to TVClub. ;)

Generally club music here is more or less housy. There are some techno and minimal clubs. If you want to find trance search for dedicated parties. Official ones will usually be announced about 2 months in advance. For everyting else you will need a good contact in the local scene. Good sources for flyers and party plans are the shops and bars in the city centre. I remember the "Steinbruch" shop having a large display for the stuff.

thank you all, for relaying the info - i am very appreciative of it! here are my remarks:

- i'll be arriving on 07/21, free till 07/24. (07/24-07/25, I'll be driving with Porsche Travel Club in Southern Germany - if anyone is interested, wants more info, feel free to ask - and if you want to join - even better! this is the perfect trip for the driving/auto enthusiast). I'll be back in Leipzig on 07/25 evening and I'll be free the WHOLE week till 08/02

- are there any hardstyle trance events/clubs/venues in Leipzig & Berlin?

- any recommended hotel stays in Leipzig?

- I think in the free week that I have, I may travel to Amsterdam. Anyone have info they would like to share?

- I plan on attending Tiesto in Berlin. May I use my Eurail pass to get there? Any good hotels, recommended sites in Berlin?

- Does anyone have experience using Sixt car rental?
