if this gonna happen, i might look more on the iPad. but as it has no USB or firewire for a soundcard and midicontroller its pretty pointless really. id love to have ableton on a touchscreen though.

i can defo see the potential in using this as a controller of ableton and im sure there are loads of tech boffs allready looking to cash in on this!!

If they seriously made all DAWs avaliable on iPad, Apple would be making sooo much cash :eyes:

Ipad isn't powerful enough for DAWs. No DAW is ever going to run on an iPad in its current incarnation.

if just those macbook pros came with touch soon it would all be solved.
the iPad sucks as a far as i understand, it seems that u cant listen to music and browse the web and chat and the same time.

How many of you can see yourself sitting at a chair with monitors plugged into an iPad, producing? Yea exactly, not many if anybody.

It would be nice for travelling but err....laptops do that already just fine and with a much nicer keyboard.

Actually, producing on an iPad would be much more convinient for me. I would much rather be working on a touchscreen interface than on a crappy mousepad on a laptop.

Really? Have you tried it?

No, but I can imagine it being much easier. It's just personal preference and I can definitely tell you that a touchscreen would be ideal for me.

bunch of Fully functional daws were available back in the days when 600mhz / 512 ram and 8gb HD was considered high end system. ableton was one of them.

I'm kinda hopeful that ipad limitations may force developers to be mindful of system resources, thereby possibly it translating into more optimized code on desktop side of things. This bloatware and crappy use of resources trend that has been going on for some time has got to stop.

However, all that being said, I do not think I pad in it's current iteration would be suitable for anything more than a novelty item or a lite tool to capture an idea on the go. The sheer lack of ports is a testament to Apples desire for it to be more of a intro piece to get you hooked, so that you'd shell out for a fully functional system, not a castrated conversation piece.
