If ferry was going to be there the text would read

who pumps up the opener, then states the headliner second?

Aly & Fila (well, Fila only, as usual) closed for Ferry earlier this month. Lange opened.

Couldn't stay too late but we had fun.

Venue was much better than expected. Very open. A bit different.

I was def one of the taller people in the audience ;-p

Music was good. Sound was VERY good in one spot on the dance floor, The back 1/2. The front 1/2 had no bass, though. Overall, with the setup it had the sound was decent overall.. Some EAW speakers up front. Just need woofers up there with them. Only saw them in the back corners (which is what made the sound on the back half of the floor good, hehe).

Gil did a great job of building the energy up early but leaving plenty of time to bring it back down w/o rushing it by the time Fila got on.

Fila came on at 11:30 instead of midnight. No complaints since we had to leave by 1!

Only Fila as expected, but that's cool. I really miss havinjg 3-4 hour sets being the norm in my life up in tbe bay area. You hear a HUGE difference on the rush on getting to the peak of the set down here. If you are from down here, you prob just think the sets are normal, though. Oh wellz, not a complaint. Just how things are

Drink prices are bomb. HUGE audios' for $10? perfect. I haven't had one in years and when I heard that price in OC of all places, had to go for it. Hell, the next round of drinks I got the bartender gave on the house. Nice!

I have one mega-ing-huge complaint. What the hell is up with no drinks on the main dance floor? Seriously! I have NEVER been to a club (and I've been to a lot, all ova the world!) that straight up tells you to move off the dance floor if you have a drink in your hand. It's just wrong...ludicrous...and laughable.

Overall, I saw a venue with SOOOO much potential if it's layout was just worked differently and the sound was upgraded overall. A very open space with so much to work with. It had minimal lights, but once Fila got going they were utilized well. A good atmosphere.

I had fun. Wish I coulda stayed logner.

I didn't notice this but I didn't spend too much time on the dance floor. Wouldn't be something new for me though; I've even heard it announced from the speakers at some places.

Overall:

Free valet parking
Discounted admission after 11 w/ guestlist (wasn't mentioned anywhere)
The club inside is very nice
My Bacardi Coke was $9; just like @ Circus
The sound was good but the rear speakers were cutting out often
Nice young crowd; lots of energy
Bathroom is kinda small

Definitely a good night.

The no drinks on the dance floor is def a rule. Security would go through every once in awhile and make people with drinks in their hand on the dance floor stand at the edge. It was really noticeable during Gil's set when the floor would fill up, and then 75% of the people cleared out because they had drinks.

The security themselves were telling us it was a stupid rule, but they had to enforce it.

And I am not saying I don't think other clubs do it. I doubt it's the first. I have just never encountered it at any type of EDM event in my life between the clubs in the SF Bay Area, Florida, SoCal, Japan, Europe, etc I've been to.

Some clubs have areas where you have to drink it...but that's different. There's usually legal reasons for that (like if it's an 18+ event, might have to keep your drinks in a 21+ only area away from the main dance floor).

It's really my only complaint! And more of an annoying one! I like spilling my drinks on people. It's fun! j/k :-p

And yes, sound did keep cutting out in the back corner. CDDJ also died during Gil's set I believe.

Every 15 minutes or so the sound would cut out for about 5-10 seconds in the back. It has happened in the past too.

I loved the music last night. Both Gil La and Fila did a terrific job. I saw a ton of arms in the air during Fila's set.

I arrived at the beginning of Gil La's set and no one was on the dance floor. I was a little concerned that it would be a very slow night, but by the time Fila came on the floor was packed.

Yojirave and I went looking for fantasyexctasy at 11pm at the only stripper pole we could find (near the back of the dance floor). No luck. I'm beginning to think he doesn't exist. :) Maybe next time I will wear something that really stands out, like my orange hat.

I finally got to meet DaveT. It is true... he is an a-hole ONLY on TA :P

Fav song of the night:
Faithless - "Not Going Home" - (AvB remix)

what a blast last night and boy am i paying for it.. !!! haha

gil did such a great job!! what a great set..definitely got me going.. even if it did get cut out for a bit due to some technical difficulties

i was worried id be in the hip hop room but my gf and i stayed in the main room the whole time (it helped my brothers friends had a table..) bottle service at shark club is pretty good when it comes to service ..better than other spots i been to..pretty attentive

fila did a great job especially since i was able to sing along to shah's "back to you" =P

i dont have problems with drinks on the dancefloor.. as a female..nothing says buzzkill like some drunkass spilling their drink on ur foot and u walk around with sticky heels all night long

no drinks on the dancefloor also applies to some other smaller venues in OC...(i.e. pierce street annex)
DaveT
Oh, so other ORANGE COUNTY venues. Go figure!

Just more annoying than anything. And I don't think I've EVER spilled my drink on anyone. I cherish my drinks too much, lol.

It would never stop me from going there for a DJ. I liked the venue.
