Wondering if anybody had any experience with one of these units?
I'm looking into it for some basic mic pre-amping (into a Saffire 40) and maybe feeding a finished stereo mix into too.
I've heard that it's fairly common and simple to put in a superior vacuum tube as well. |

I'm also looking at the TL Audio Ivory 5060 |

I looked at a bunch of ARTs over the years and was never impressed enough to buy one. They give you a lot of features, considering the price, but they can sound harsh and noisy as well. I haven't used the TLA Ivory 5060, but it looks like a nicely spec'ed unit. In that price range, I'd recommend also checking out:
- JoeMeek OneQ
- Drawmer MX60
Both are incredible units that sound great, have a ton of features, and are very flexible. |

Good info Dave, thanks.
Just based on the noise factor alone I think it's probably best to avoid the ART unit then, and it is suspiciously cheap.
I'll keep the 5060 in mind and take a look at stereo versions of the ones you mentioned as well (i'm looking at something I can run a stereo mix through as well).
I'm about to go from my SE2000/CI2 combo to an M-Audio Solaris/Saffire 40 combo so i'll get a massive boost in input signal quality anyway. I may even hold off the pre-amp purchase as the Saffire is supposed to have pretty decent preamps anyway!
