Cubase 4 problem

I started a project and saved it. When I try to open it, I get an error message saying all the inputs are unmapped. It looks like it lost the VST information. Is there anyway to fix this or is this project lost?

Go to VST connections (F4) and make sure your audio device is properly selected.

If not, add the input and output busses using the add bus button.

cubase does this sometimes for some reason, although you should still be able to see your project load up, but not hear it.

I think the output is ok, but the VSTs are missing. The midi channels are there, but the VST info is lost. If I try to add a new instrument, I can and I can hear it.

Have you moved the vst folder or the vsts?

I keep getting 'ASIO TIME OVERLOAD' which manifests as a note suddenly hanging (rapid fire) and the whole system ceising up. Sometimes if I leave it a few minutes it self corrects. Typically though I have to shut down (itself a difficulty).

I have C5 with the RME FF400.
Synergy music PC built by Digital Village 1 year ago runnjing 4 i7's, 2.93khz, 4 mbram.

I keep the meters in cubase to about 25% usually, although recently running FX Pansions Fusor it went right up to about 60%!

I though tit was the interface so I chopped in the steinberg MRS for the RME, but the problem persists.

I keep the buffer at about 1026, sometimes 512.

For a supposedly powerful system this is very annoying.

DV can take it, but from past experience they will hoard it for weeks which is bad for me right now as the label I'm signed to want 3 tracks, so I'm kinda stuck plodding along with this error.

Now I've mentioned this before but it went all off at tangents, people saying the BIOS is wrong or something in windows XP needs changing, but if it were that simple then DV would know about it as they would have had the problem many times.

My Dad thinks it may be lack of RAM, as in properties it shows about 60% of RAM used (presumably more when cubase running a project)but surely DV would have thought of this. They tested the system when it first went wrong and found nowt wrong - typical. But I think that might be because the tech guy just left one of thier standard test project running, which wont have triggered the fault in the way I would when jumping around inside a project.

For now its a mystery.

dood have you tried unticking the use multiprocessor box in Device setup under VST Audio system? Beleiev it or not this sometimes makes a difefernce for me.

I beleiev you have enough ram, i am running a very similar system, Cubase 5, I7 machine with REM FF 400 UC.

I need to go out now but when i get back maybe we can hook up on MSN if you havent resolved it and have a play about :)
