i think it was a blitz game (anand is probably the best if not the best blitz player in the world) and move 33 he took the bishop with the queen, thus losing his queen to avoid a future check.

should have taken it with the knight. |
I think at move 34 he was either going to loose a bishop or a Rook and that Rook would have put him in check but he casled and saved the Rook since now they are connected and his king now protected the Bishop from Whites fork attack with his Queen but Gary lost his Queen in the process. I'm no Pro Chess player but I if was playing Black as Gary was I would have moved queen to H6 thus saving the Queen and protecting the Bishop and just have taken the loss on the Rook. The Rook is worth 5 and the Queen is worth 9 or 10 depending on who you ask. Even though White taking that Rook would have put him in Check it was escapable and not a mate and I didn't see a mate coming in 10 moves or even more.
So he lost a 9 point Queen for a 5 point Rook and after White taking Garys Queen with Horse, Gary taking the Rook that took his Queen then forks Whites Queen who just went on to take another pawn at the side of the board. White won 10 points for 5 where if he just saved the Queen White would only be up a Rook for 5 points not to mention more material on the Board to work with but I can't see 25 to 30 moves ahead so I should just be quite now. lloll  |

definatley wouldnt work.
after Qh6 for black, here is Kasparov's best possible outcome (resulting in a mate for Anand).
35. qxc8, ke7
36. qb7,ke8
37. qxf7,kd8
38. qxd5 and rE8 to protect the pawn.
39. qa8,ke7
40. qb7,kd8
41. Nc5,qe6 (white brings the horse up to protect more squares)
42. qb8,ke6
43. qc7,qd7
44. and white checkmates at qd7
at least by sacrificing the queen and castleing at move 34,as kasparov did, black avoids a mating web and can play out the game another 10 or so moves (on top of what i posted above) before losing the rook and resigning. Point wise castleing was a better move and gave kasparov much better positioning and actual room to play.
Professionals and computer analysis still say the best move at 33 for black was Nxe3 to take the bishop. QXe3? or qxe3?? either way its a blunder. (not according to me but professionals of course lol) |

Blacks move, smother mate !

This is my Chess Board and my full collection of Romans Lab DVD's. Like I said I bought them around 4 years ago but then got me a girlfriend and starting hitting the clubs hard and Chess was no longer an importance. I recommend these DVD's, although pricey they are worth it from what I seen so far. Someone like Meat187 would improve prolly like 20 times better.
