| quote: | BPitch controller Ellen Allien has completed work on her fifth solo full-length album, Dust.
The DJ/producer has entered into the studio this time around with Tobias Freund, following previous collaborations with AGF, Apparat and Holger Zilske. The result, as Allien tells it, is a warmer and more immediate album than 2008's Sool. And in listening to previews from the album it certainly seems that way. The beats are upfront, the melodies easily discernible, Allien's voice loud and clear. But it's not all beeps and bleeps: Clarinet finds its way onto "My Tree" and a guitar loop guides "You." Like much of her work, Dust seems pitched halfway between the living room and the dance floor.

I like it, the album is pretty well balanced out. A bit short though, clocking in about 46mins. Overall a great job by Ellen :)
The tracks that stand out for me are Our Utopie, which is a great intro and I'm also totally loving Sun The Rain. |

| ehhh...just heard the samples. Even if she did produce it entirely herself 1.5/5 |

| Nicolas Jaar's remix of Flashy Flashy is pretty awesome. |

i wish, but i hope to hear more remixes of her album. there are some tracks that can be made even more awesome by remixing. |

| Didn't really like the 'Sool' album, sounds like I will like this one better from the samples. 'Dream' is cool, used it to intro a mix. |

My eyes locked onto Dream and I decided to check out the samples, and I really like Ellen Allien so my expectations were pretty high. I really like Dream, My Tree and Ever. The general quality is good too, so it's a strong album, especially if she's produced it all on her own, I guess.
Anyway, those three tracks alone make the album worth buying. |

| A couple of things sound interesting, but on the whole, I'm not really enthused by any of the samples. |

| Not a bad album.. some of these tracks are really cool (especially the ones with guitars and such) while others are kindof bleh. Can't stand that Nicolas Jaar remix. |
