Featuring:

LTJ BUKEM (Goodlooking UK)
{ http://myspace.com/therealdannyltjbukem // http://goodlooking.org }

LTJ Bukem is the stage name used by the drum and bass musician, producer and DJ Danny Williamson (born 1967, Watford, Hertfordshire). He and his record label Good Looking Records are most associated with the jazzy, atmospheric side of drum and bass music. The name "LTJ Bukem" is a contraction of "El DJ Book 'em", a nod to the Spanish for "The DJ". "Book'em" (or "Book'em Danno") is the well-known catchphrase by Steve McGarret, Senior Officer to "Danny Williams" on the television series Hawaii Five-O. Together we get "Ltj Bukem".

Williamson was raised in Watford, England by foster parents. He was trained as a classical pianist and discovered jazz fusion in his teenage years, having a jazz funk band at one stage. However by the late 1980s he decided to become a DJ, and gained fame in the rave scene of the early 1990s. As a producer, he released a series of classic jungle tracks such as "Demon's Theme" (1991), "Atlantis" and "Music" (1993).

He then dipped in visibility as a producer, with his work running legendary London club night 'Speed' and his record label 'Good Looking Records' coming to the fore. A series of compilations entitled 'Logical Progression' highlighted a jazz and ambient influenced side of drum and bass. The style became widely known as 'intelligent drum and bass', although Bukem himself was opposed to the moniker, unhappy with the implication that other styles of jungle were not intelligent. Bukem also explored the downtempo end of electronic lounge music, with sister label Looking Good and the Earth series of compilations. Some of the artists who rose to fame under Good Looking in this period include Blame, Seba, Big Bud, Blu Mar Ten, Future Engineers, and Artemis.

DJ SS (Formation WODNB)
{ http://myspace.com/djayss // http://formationrecords.com // http://wodnb.com }

DJ SS, born Leroy Small (on August 27 1970), is a Drum and Bass DJ and producer from Leicester, United Kingdom. His name actually stands for Scratchenstein (not the nazi storm troopers) which is a name he used when he was a Hip Hop scratch DJ and a part of the Hip Hop act The Formation Five whose name inspired the name of his label. Has two children, Parris and Jordan and is married to wife, Tania. His siblings include: Pam, Melanie and Fitzroy.

Originally a breakdancer, DJ Stratchenstein began playing electro music as a teenager in the early 1980s. He then played Hip Hop and Rare Groove before turning to producing in 1988 (initially Acid House, Hardcore, Breakbeat and finally Jungle/Drum and Bass tracks.)

SS got his big break DJ'ing at the big British raves of the early 1990s such as Telepathy. Since then he has gone on to DJ world wide.

SS is the co-founder and head of the Formation Records label and has released over 100 tracks using a number of aliases. These include the "Color Series" and the "Country Series", MA3 "Those DJs", the piano-theme-from-Love Story-sampling "Lighter" (the label's biggest hit) plus many more popular Drum and Bass / Jump-Up Jungle tunes. He has also remixed No Good (Start the Dance) by The Prodigy.

The Formation label has become a stable for new Drum and Bass producers such as John B and Twisted Individual.
