Despite the fact that we're exposed to death on a day-to-day basis, the topic of our own inevitable passing is something that's rarely discussed. I've imagined numerous scenarios, but the only theme that pervades all of them is consciousness - that is to say that I'd like to be as conscious as possible when the time comes for me to leave this body. Something about not being fully present for the experience just seems like it would be really distasteful, a disservice to all that preceded it.
