Currently looking into buying a pair of these, i've heard mixed reviews from random people claiming durability is bad/uncomfortable to wear Were as others claim they have lasted for years and are very comfortable other long durations of use. So i'm looking for possible feedback from a TA (cause i trust them hopefully :P) that has had experience with these headphones, If so what are they like for studio use, Mixing, Gigging etc cheers :).

dont use them, they will crush your ears as u will only keep playing louder and louder with them until theres nothing left but tinnitus. and yes they are terrible to wear, they break easily (plastic) and they have biased sound, not reflecting the truth. get something else. if your gonna dj they are ok, but the mdr-v6 are better because they dont destroy your ears and theyr easier to wear and doesnt break. but none of them are good for monitoring, producing. look at AKG or somerthing. there are thousands of threads here already do a search. dont ever buy these!

Gigs/djeing: MDR-v6 aka 7506
Producing, monitoring, listening: something else than sony.

Ahh not the greatest of reviews lol thanks for your input :P

Don't.

They are terrible to produce with. You can mix on "producer" headphones but you cant produce on dj headphones.

the 600s are really good in my opinion.

ive had them since january.. and their great for mixing.

Try the ATH-M50.

Just got mine , and they have a really flat sound as a monitoring headphone. It's burned in for 60 hours.

I use MDR700's and haven't had a problem with tinnitus. I use them interchangeably with my regular monitors, though. They will belt out the bass response that in conjunction with loud high frequencies for prolonged periods of time, can damage your ears, but I temper that with good, safe practice.

They are very good at making almost any mix sound better than it really is, so I'm glad I'm using other monitors to give a more balanced listen. They'll also catch stuff that my regular monitors will miss, so I can be fairly assured of a good mix once I get both (headphones and near-fields) mixes adjusted so that they're sounding quite similar.

I HATED these headphones...hated how they pressed against the ear, and started falling apart right after i purchased them (and im super careful with ).

My friend had the same issues with them.

I've been using the Stanton 2000 ever since and never had any issues with them falling apart. Plus, they fit perfectly AROUND my ear and imo they sound way better.

But that's just me

Do not buy. I had a pair and thought they were terrible. Sound qualities crap compared to these headphones at the same price. I've since had headphones that cost half as much and sounded better.

I now have Sennheiser Hd-25's. Nothing i've used have sounded as good as these.

I bought mine about 4 years ago and they are still working 100%. My mate went thought 4-5 on the last couple of years these include £120 Pioneers. For DJ’ing they are perfect.

I'm with the haters on this one, I rushed to ebay to get some of these after a gushing recommendation from a mate (who's a DJ.. :p) and from very first listen I was slapping myself in the forehead for throwing money into the void. They sound okaaay if you're playing a song you've produced with monitors, but producing with these then playing the resulting hot mess through monitors is laughably bad, I recall actually laughing.

Good luck on your search, unfortunately all I can tell you is to NOT go with the Sony's. Let me know what you end up deciding on! I'm looking to get a decent pair of monitor headphones to supplement my beloved Yamaha HS80's :D

I guess it's a no to the sony's then :P, Also considering Technics RPDH1200 i think armin used these at one point so they can't be too shabby lol there roughly about 80 pound. Also consider sennhieser but the price tags are a little bit more than i want to pay :s.
