There's a woodpecker outside my place that is going to town on a metal speed limit sign. I'm not sure if it's the same one, but I have noticed it happening every year now for the last five years or so. Is this a common thing for woodpeckers to do, or do I have a case of woodpecker senility in my environs?
Let this thread also serve as an outlet for anything Woody Woodpecker related, or possibly as a euphemism for blowjobs as well. At some point I would be curious to hear the thoughts of someone who actually knows though.

And you're having problems with a Varmint.
It's a Wood-pecker.
In the case of the stop-sign, I bet it's marking territory. The ladder? I don't think it likes the ladder.

Woodpeckers announce their presence for the females as well as their territories by pecking the wood. Obviously metal objects make more noise, so it makes sense they peck at it.
Well atleast that's what I've heard

Yea usually at a party with a lot of attractive women I announce my presence by repeatedly banging my head against a wall.
