the name hookah is derived from what it is called in india. it was invented in india but gained popularity in the middle east. i call it 'hookah' when im talking to canadians but i call it 'shisha' when im talking to terrorists.

Ah the all-knowing chinaman. I see you're a ahead of everybody else with your wiki sources.. lol very sneaky. This doesn't change the fact that it's still called a shisha / argeela in the Middle East.. Actually most of the 'flavoured tobacco water pipes' you see in Canada resemble Middle Eastern shishas and are usually served at Arabic restaurants / lounges.. so why call them hookahs.. unless they were Indian pipes served in Indian restaurants. It's like calling spaghetti noodles (or 'mein' right?) because it has communist (Chinese.. funny joke) origins.

About time. I was definitely losing sleep over the rampant and irresponsible use of hookahs around the city.

All this time we were focused on H1N1, another MAJOR PUBLIC HEALTH THREAT!1!, just to be raped from behind by hookah smoking. Further proof of how UNSAFE this world has become.

Totally! Look what happened with alcohol. Now we've got bars on every corner with people getting wasted and causing a ruckus in this city. Just imagine what'll happen with a hookah bar ON EVERY CORNER! EVERY CORNER!!! :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

LOL YES. ing idiots...

My question is WTF would a non smoker be doing in a SHISHABAR to begin with if they dont' smoke? ing malakes....:whip:

I'm going to open up one of these bars just as a big screw you to the Government.

If Jayx1 started this thread, you'd all be saying how much of a whiner he was and how it's true that hookah should be regulated...

Yep, because he does it all the time constantly. I have no problem with some of his views, hell I agree with some of them.

I say just combine threads like this into one TOTA local political thread and it'll be a lot easier.

So say I do decide to open up a nargileh bar/hookah bar, and as an aside I have drinks, cafe etc (no booze) will they not allow me to open on the grounds that smoking is a public health option and NO cafe indoors should have it (nargileh or not?).

If that's what they're proposing them. It's not like I'm inviting people in for the purpose of drinking then they're forced to inhale the smoke...
Retards...

Then again this is TO where they'll go so far as to stop JUST short of banning whatever it is all together but make it ridicluously hard to have it. (Oh but it's fine because it's still legal...)
