Does Amperage matter ?

My boss gave me a blofeld synth but he didn't have the power supply. If I have one that is the same voltage but 1 A instead of 300 mA , will it overheat or short out or will it only draw the power it needs. He just gave me the unit as is with no power supply.

It'll draw the current it needs. The transformer current rating is the max current that can be drawn from it. If you try and draw more than the transformer supports either the thing you're running off it won't work or the transformer will eventually break or catch fire or something.

Make sure the polarity is the right way round too if you're using a different transformer ;)

I looked on the Waldorf website and it said the power-supply for the Blofeld was internal.

just make sure its the same voltage (both in and out), like 110V AC, 9V DC or whatever it is. The current must be 300mA or more so ur good with 1A. just check the voltages.

Can the Blofeld be USB-powered?

The fuse in the c13/14 power cord will blow a long time before current damages the transformer right?

what do you mean by polarity ? How can I check this ? What is a fair price for a blofeld these days ? It is used but my boss used it for maybe 10 hours and then shelved it and gave it to me as a bonus. 400$ ?

Good deal man - its time to crank some work lol.

The tip is positive on the blofeld PSU, and it draws 0.3 amps. Just make sure you run a volt meter over over the replacement PSU to check the output.

One of those multi-adaptor PSU (with all the interchangeable tips) should be fine but just check hat it puts out and don't go by the switch (3v, 5v, 7v, 9v) - third party PSU's nearly always put out too much or little, so just heck it to be sure.

I have a spare yamaha adapter that says 1 A . It has 3 circles on the back which i'm guessing indicates polarity. first is - then a circle within a broken circle , then +

DJ RANN
on polarity diagrams, the bit in the middle is the tip, and the broken outer circle is the sleeve.

So for the blofeld, you want the inner part to be + and the outer circle to be - .

It depends if the transformer is drawing more current than the fuse can handle. I wouldn't have thought the power cord fuse would blow unless something went wrong inside the transformer causing a short or something. Most likely if you try to draw more current than the transformer can handle, if it works, it'll just run really hot and eventually shut off or break.
