Despite the revisions, the FIFA rankings tend to over-rate the USA and Mexico, because they are the only good teams in the CONCACAF qualifying group and tend to rack up a lot of points for beating very weak sides such as Suriname or Nicaruga. It also seems to under-rate South American teams somewhat, because their qualifying group is very hard.
Basically, most people don't take the FIFA rankings very seriously. Most knowledgable fans will know that Greece are not the 12th best team in the world, that Paraguay are much better than the 30th, that Israel are not superior to the Ivory Coast, etc. |

IMO The favourites are :
1. Spain & Brazil
2. England & Argentina
3. The Netherlands, Italy & Germany
4. France, Ivoary Costs, Portugal.
and then the others.....
i'll be rooting for France(obv) & the Netherlands.....

I don't have the heart to support Brazil both against England AND the Netherlands :p

I don't think Brazil's going to go that far this year. As for Spain, I sure hope so! They have the best team they've ever had, all they have to do is not choke. |
