Any Kore users here?

I don't see Kore mentioned much here, but I just picked up a Kore 2 a few weeks ago, mostly to use as a controller for Komplete 5/6. I spent some time this past weekend going through the macprovideos tutorial and I'm pretty impressed - this thing is much deeper than I was anticipating and I'm pretty surprised at how well it works for my non-NI plugins.

Anyway, I'm just wondering who else is using it in case I have questions, want to share ksd's, etc.

BTW, if you've got Kore and are wondering how to get the most out of it, I highly recommend the macprovideos.com tutorial. You can buy it for d/l, or just pay $1 for a 3-day trial and watch it online. Well worth the time IMO and much better than reading the manual.

I have kore2 w/ kore 1 controller and sax and brass library. Got them some time ago. I haven't had really time to use it yet as i got it few weeks before i moved back to Finland (from sweden), and currently all my stuff are still in moving boxes :C

Thanks for the advice about the macprovideo.

I had kore 1 and to be honest I found it a complete waste of time and momey. Luckily I got it in a bundle with komplete 3 so I didn't feel too ripped off, but the soundcard in it was horrible and the controller wouldn't send midi and stuff. So it was just a pain.

As a browser I guess it was OK, but ableton has all the layering and sequencing functions you could want anyway, so I never really saw the point of it for that. I think really it was just NI's way of making their gear more accesible to newer users, it seemed to be aimed more as a preset machine than a serious piece of kit. I guess it just didn't suit my workflow.

What is it that you find appealing about kore 2? Can it do anything that you can't with just ableton?

That's exactly what I thought for the longest time and it wasn't until I started talking with more people about it and learning a bit more before realizing that it's actually much more than that. It's obviously best known for its browser abilities, which is second to none IMO, but hardly worth $400 for that alone. It's Kore's abilities as a controller and very deep controller environment that really impresses me.

I owned a Novation Remote SL a few years ago (which I hated) and Kore destroys AutoMap as a synth/effect plugin controller IMO (and without having to have two versions of each plugin - normal and AutoMap. Not only can you freely and easily assign the controllers in Kore, you can create entire "performances" with multiple synths and plugins all set to one channel, all controllable from the hardware unit, etc. And you can save the entire performance as a preset that can be called up in any DAW, etc. It integrates perfectly with nearly every softsynth that I own (not just the NI synths), imports their factory and user presets for instant recall, etc. That's just the start - it's very flexible/configurable and has already worked its way into my workflow.
