Just been scanning the rules and read this:

Private classic and overall leagues will also show a World Cup Mode being played out. Once the knockout phase of the tournament starts, depending on the number of teams in your league, the top teams will go into a knockout playoff. For example, if you have between 8 and 15 teams in your league, at the point of the Quarter-finals, the top 8 teams will then go into a knockout phase, with any remaining teams being eliminated from the World Cup Mode view.
If you have 16 or more teams, the knockout stage will commence at the Round of 16.
Any points deducted for making transfers leading up to the round will be deducted from your World Cup Mode match score.
If a World Cup Mode match is drawn, then the following tie-breaks will be applied until a winner is found:
1. Most goals scored in the round
2. Fewest goals conceded in the round
3. Virtual coin toss |
Not sure how you win a "match", but it sounds like finishing in the top 16 of the league is important. |

Apparently it's by scoring more points than the opponent that you were drawn. Looks like I'm facing Ian in the Quarterfinals. :D |

| I've not had a brilliant round. I thought you had to fill your squad with players still in the tournament so I blew a few points before the round of sixteen on players I had no intention of playing. Also lost about 12 points on the Dutch penalty. |

I'm just making sure I have a legit first 11 now. And for two people who disagree so much on everything, we're damn close in the rankings! |

i was traveling at the beginning of the round.....and completely forgot to change my team (even though i posted that i was about to. lol)
so i was really fortunate to have as good a round as i did with less than 11 active players.
made my changes yesterday, lost 15 points from my score. now i have 17 active players or something like that. should get really interesting from here on out. |
