I am all for freedom to tinker and customize a device, just not on a phone that you actually depend on.
Where do you see Android being unstable?

Not only does JIT on Android 2.2 blow the doors off of Apple's OS, but 2.2 is going to have streaming music from your home PC via the cloud, improved translation and enterprise features for global business users, and tons of other tweaks and performance upgrades.
The iPhone OS 4.0 is getting folders and wallpaper, something that could be done on a phone over a decade ago. The only interesting thing Apple has in store for OS 4.0 is that gaming network thing similar to Xbox Live, but at the same time the App Store has thousands and thousands of games, so not many users are going to be playing the same ones to make the service worthwhile.
Like on Xbox Live for example, you'll have hundreds of thousands of people playing one game. But on the iPhone, you'll have hundreds of thousands of people playing all different games (so instead of having a huge user base of gamers to compete with, you'll have less).
But no one gives a . Apple are getting on the Business users case too now, add that to the fan boys and the only people who want an android are those who want to try and trump the iphone users, bottom line is the masses don't care for spec.
Don't get me wrong I love Google. But Apple has it nailed man.

Apple, being the first to come out with something like the iPhone, has secured the market for itself. Yea, competition will arise, but in this game, the first innovator is usually the market dominator. Apple, on just account of its brand, is very likely to continue dominating the smart phone market. Not even mentioning the iPhone really is, a great product.

apple was suppose to launch something to meet "google docs" 2yrs ago and it never happened, they scrapped it. this is where the business community is going, no question about it, we already use it a lot at my work and with google voice soon to replace anyones telephone service Apple is going to look dated. i have the google nexus one for a phone, the features coming on android 2.2 will really set a new precedent for smart phones.

RIM still has a much larger market share than Apple

Inevitably what will hurt Apple is their ditching of flash for the iphone. YES flash is terrible, YES flash bogs down your system...but guess what? 95% of apps/devs/programs out in the world are flash based. You're not going to change that by saying the iPhone is going to block flash. Sorry Apple.

They are losing out to apple though.
Why? Because the apps store is pretty much unbeatable, companies don't need to produce their own software cause likely-hood is it already exists.
Whilst RIM have a secure business network, Apple are starting to focus more on improving the security and offer alternatives.
It's the way it is bro.

Take a look at this video of three devices running a web app on their browsers.

LOL HTC had phones very similar to the iphone out way before the iphone...
the iphone really isn't particularly innovative, they're just good at marketing, and knowing that people care more about brand/fashion than quality.
same as the ipod originally, the Iriver had a 40gb model which played video a year and a half before ipods came out with video.
nobody even knew about irivers, despite how much better they were, and still are compared to ipods...
being the originator has nothing to do with staying power, apple just markets well, they're not super-innovative, nor do they provide better products.

People that play games on their phones are faggots.
