North Korea's response was predictably belligerent. They are threatening "all out war" if any use of force, sanctions or otherwise, is carried out against them.

lol...yeah the "all out war" statement was the clincher.

It is an act of war, South Korea should retaliate.

It is highly unlikely that they (SK and US) will retaliate with anything but sanctions. They do not want to risk destabilizing the area, especially considering Seoul is in direct range of North Korean artillery. They will not take military action, because China would certainly have something to say about it.

Taking military action against NK will not benefit anyone. There is little point in attacking them, because all NK is is simply a belligerent, whiney state that hides behind China and nuclear threats, although they have little to back it up.

How does China protect NK? I didn't know there was a strong relationship there.

SK is just too important in the tech world for them to go to war, the world would suffer greatly. I agree that sanctions would be the most likely coarse of action.
