Rumor: Monticello in talks with Ecclestone to bring Formula One to New York

Monticello is only 90 minutes from Manhattan, and would be a HUGE tourism draw for the region. Tourists could fly into Manhattan, spend a few days in the city, and then spend the weekend in the country a little north...
F1 on TV also draws good ratings...more free advertising for the state.
The only problem is that if the owners of the track need lots of money to make improvements to the track to make it F1-compatible, you can bet Paterson isn't going to give them a penny.

| I know it's a rumor but I really want this to happen. F1 close to NY would be a huge success IMO. |

| Ha, I was just up there this weekend for a quick getaway. There is really NOTHING else up there to do, so I could see it. It's really not a bad drive, and I think there's a bus somewhat nearby. |
