Drum Samples. This is a torrent, I have the same one and I think it's excellent. (the page only displays a few drum machines, it has way more than the ones listed)

I find that anything like this is usually much better than something like the Vengeance sample pack. It's much easier to work with something that hasn't already been processed to plus, you don't have to look through 200 kick drums like you would with Vengeance. If I know I'm looking for something more realistic I'll probably go for the Boss DR-550 or the Alesis SR16. Say I want some more "classic" sounds, I would go straight for the Roland TR Series. It really makes everything much easier.

Also, it's free and probably better than anything you would have to pay for.

OMG check me out, my name is NewbProducer and I want to sound like the most popular "artists" in the scene because that's all I've been able to find in the ten seconds it took me to Google "trance".

I can't believe you haven't been flamed a crap-load, but I'll try to be nice. They do not sound like that becuase of what they use to make music, they sound that way because they know HOW to use what they use to make music. You don't need anything in particular to sound like them, what you need is a decade of constant dedication.

If you have any good recommendations, I'm all 'ears'. Taste is subjective, my friend.

hmm....the question is similar to like, ive been playing flute, but now i want to start with rock, i never tried the guitar, but which guitar should i buy to sound awesome as van halen?

Its not in the guitar, its the hundread years of playing guitar.

Same with Trance. You need to litsen to trance every day for 5 years, learn about mixing, mastering, synthesis, and then you might get CLOSE.

Dont forget that it just isnt mr Van Burren or mister Dash Berlin sat at a computer on there own making these tunes. There can be a whole load of sub/co-producers working on a track. That is why they churn out loads of tracks globetrotting whilst DJ'ing.

Look at Durand , he sounds as if he has Tiesto's old production crew behind him now. There production is very similar.

Am i rite?

Here is my take on it. And I'll explain it with an easy metaphore.

Suppose you want to make a replicate of a Ferrari Enzo, you're going to need all the parts and the expertise of Ferrari to make it.

If you got only the parts of a Lada or a Ford or some car from the junkyard, but you have the expertise, you might be able to make a car that looks like a Ferrari Enzo with enough creativity, but it doesn't drive and feel exactly the same.

Likewise if you got all the parts that Ferrari use but you don't have the expertise, the car won't even run as it has alot of problems and equipment that are not used correctly.

So in short, you need both the gear and the expertise to sound exactly like them.
