TOTAs who would like to attend Decknanigans please contact me via PM. Here's the deets...

Greetings to all the Party People in the House - we still got your number! As a lot of you know, last year, every time we tried for some shenanigans on the deck, the perpetual rain of '09 thwarted our efforts. This time, nature appears to be on our side, we've concocted a corker of a gameplan, and we'd be tickled teal if you and your friends got in on the action with us!

On Saturday, June 19, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. (leaving you ample time to rock the casbah at your venue of choice later in the evening) we'll be holding the inaugural Decknanigans at our place. As anyone who's been to Casa Westside can vouch, the back deck is an awesome sight to behold. Rebuilt last summer, it's been extended out to nearly 600 square feet – that's like dancing in the bachelor apartment you lived in when you first moved out on your own, with no furniture to trip over!

This is a family affair, so cool parents feel free to bring your equally cool young'uns out for the day, as well as whatever food and drink you'd like – we have a small yet efficient barbeque, so anything under Brontoburger size should fit. Deck chairs are a-plenty, with coolers being on the wantlist – if you can spare an extra one for the day, let it be known!

Oh yeah...did we mention that we'll be providing a day of powerfully delicious music, courtesy of a handful of fun-loving Djs, representing a diverse spread of styles that harken back to the true spirit of rave?

Your lineup for the day...

Alex L & The Dirty Mex (Toronto - The Kosher Burrito)
Andreas Marouchos (Toronto - Groovetech)
The ShiKing (Guelph - http://theshiking.wordpress.com/)
WestsideWax (Toronto - WestsideWax DJ School / PivotTechno)
Trevor "Isoprax" Wilkes (Hamilton - http://www.fun-in-the-murky.com/)

By now you should be eyeballing your screen suspiciously and thinking to yourself, “O.k., sounds like a jaunty venture, but aside from making a fabulous appearance, what's my role in all this and how can I help out Sukritham Home?

Here's the lead-in and the plan...

http://www.sukritham.org/

A while ago, Curtis and his wife Renee told us about a home for abandoned girls, located in the small town of Naduvannur, India, that they'd visited in their travels, and with which they subsequently became involved, devoting portions of the proceeds from their band Tiger Suit's shows. We liked what we saw going on, and decided to see what we could do to lend a hand. Decknanigans #1 is just the beginning...

We're actually going to hold two Decknanigans – this one in June, and another sometime in July. Both will serve as fundraisers for an actual, genuine, honest-to-goodness, invite-only rave (warehouse venue, quality sound, alcohol-free with a juice and smart-bar) to be held in August, for which we hope to fly in an uber-zen Deep Techno can-opener-for-your-mind DJ, with the proceeds from the party going straight to Sukritham. This DJ has already agreed to generously discount their booking fee as part of their donation to the cause, now the rest is up to us!

At both parties, we'll have ye olde glass jar set up by the DJ booth, with a suggested contribution of $10. And please, don't sweat it if you can't swing that much – any donation is greatly appreciated. And by appreciated, we mean that if you chip in, we're going to discount your ticket price if you wish to attend the August party! It's a win-win-win-win-win situation for all, and that's the kind of winning we love!

A couple of quickie sidenotes:

- If you're unable to attend a Decknanigans, but would still like to donate to Sukritham (and still get the discounted ticket price for August), we're accepting donations via Paypal at siddhis-r-us at hotmail dot com Just add a note letting us know if you'll be coming to the August party.

- If for any odd reason the August party should not come to fruition, we will still donate the proceeds from both the June and July parties directly to Sukritham.

Now, as if we haven't asked the known world of you already, we have one last request of our attendees. When the warehouse party scene sprung up inToronto in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the DJ was an integral part of the night, but it was really the *people* who were the party. We feel that with the onset of the Cult of Mindless DJ Worship that a lot of the strange and silly spontaneity that accompanied the scene has been lost over the years. With that in mind, we encourage responsible expressions of everyday sanity, to counter the effects of an insane world - if you can safely breathe great balls-o-fire, unsafely juggle ping pong balls with your mouth or speed-knit a pair of mittens in under 15 minutes, Decknanigans would sure like to bear witness to it...bring your best game, or your best friend's game if their game is more game than your game!

We sincerely hope that you have enjoyed and been confused by The Story of Decknanigans. We'd love to see you in the next chapter.

We're happy to announce the addition of Guelph's The ShiKing to the June 12 lineup! We first has our minds blown and our feet moved by this vinyl-slinging wonder when he dropped an absolutely stunning all-Classic House set on a beautiful Sunday morning at last year's Beatroot Festival - trust us when we say that you're in for a soulful, late-afternoon treat at Decknanigans!

We're less than two weeks out - see you soon!

Decknanigans' lineup is now fully confirmed! Our friend and fellow urban denizen, Kalmplex, will be opening up the afternoon with a set of conscious Hip-Hop, R&B and Reggae - arrive early, stay late, taste and savour the full variety of musical flava!

Good idea. Sounds chilling. Might hit this up before Justin Martin.

With the forecast calling for 10-15 mm of the wet stuff, it looks like we're going to get washed out this weekend, big time! So, rain date it is - see you on the 19th!

...and if you fine peeps peep the event listing, you'll notice that the DJ lineup has changed slightly - unfortunately, some of our talent have prior engagements and are unable to do the makeup date. Fortunately, others have stepped up to donate their time and energy to this wonderful cause!

The 2 x 4 team of Alex L. and The Dirty Mex, a.k.a. The Kosher Burrito, are two local boys we met 'round town who seem to be in possession of a retarded quantity of quality, classic Minimal (vowels intact) Techno and Tech-House, played pitched-down and pairing perfectly with a muggy mid-Saturday afternoon.

Our buddy Andreas Marouchos hails from Cypress, but blood tests reveal that 90% of what flows through his veins is pure Detroit. We've had the immense pleasure of witnessing his chuggy, tribal, three-turntable Techno wizardry on more than a few occasions - now it's your turn!

Daddy Trevor Wilkes may be known to some of you of the host of the weekly Bleep Radio Podcast and the Fun-In-The-Murky Blog, running steady now for 5 years and showcasing Trevor's hand-picked underground talent from around the world, as well as featuring mixes of his own deep crate madness. Our man will be infant-minding in the Hammer until early evening, so we've handed him the closing slot - if you've never experienced the zany bangin' fun that is an Isoprax DJ set, prepare thyself for some seriously un-serious impressed-ness!

Now all we are in need of are clear skies - keep your fingers crossed and your toes a-tappin'!

Looks like it's going to be a humid, muggy Saturday afternoon - 30C and feeling much warmer...the DJ booth is covered, so even if we get some of the showers the forecast is calling for, we're still a-go-go-GO!

Just a reminder that our front door won't be open. You'll need to go through the back alley to get to Decknanigans - please message me if you don't already have the map. If you have trouble negotiating steep stairs, we can make arrangements to let you in the front - just let us know.

We're looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow - and for those of you who can't make it, whether you're at OM, Summer Camp or otherwise occupied, we wish you all exceptionally fun times as we shift into the sweetness of Summer!
