Why does it need to be cross platform? Most samplers can open each other's files. Its fairly standardised these days I think. |

Well the reason it needs to be cross platform is so that it runs, ie has installation files for both OS`s.
I know what you mean abou tbeing able to open almost any file type but we are talking free samplers here which may have those ery specific limitations, so i need somethign that can be installed on Mac and PC :) |

Yo Tehlord - thats also one i considerd but its a 2GB download :O
Cant expect people wanting video tutorials to be able to download that also :O unless i am mistaken and you can download it without the GB of sounds!
And offcourse you have register on their site etc, great sampler but too much hassle for customers :(
Thanks anyhoo Tehlord - as usual :) |

You can ditch the library and use your own sounds.
It's also a multi part d/l iirc so you might find the installer is only in the first part?
CM Play is useful too but requires the purchase of CM magazine.
I've not tried any other so sadly can't recommend anything else! |

the yellow tools one is a 200+mb download which is a pitty and each person has to register to download it, i dont see people doing that :O

Well there WAS a point to my question lol, I have several samplers on my HDD but don't do a lot of actual sampling! :p
Anyhoo, the only thing that seems to come close to matching all your criteria is this :-
http://www.linuxsampler.org/about.html
Not tried it though so I can't comment on its features. |
