I've never wrote a review about an album even if its magnificent but this time I just can't hold it. The release of 2010 (in this genre) so far. If you aren't familiar with CBL's sound I suggest you should try walking out of the cave and see the sun. Their music is beautiful and cannot be described without experiencing it.
I must confess that, as a follower of Ultimae, I haven't heard that CBL are making a new album and, suddenly, voila! A newsletter declaring the preservation period for the new release. Needless to say, I ordered instantly and lets see what do we got:
Tracklist (following the numbers from their previous albums):
24 Interloper
25 Right Where It Ends
26 Central Plain
27 Supersede
28 Init
29 Euphotic
30 Frog
31 M
32 20 Minutes
33 Polyrytmi
The start is typical CBL, we've got some acid beats, some guitars (perfectly fitting), some melodies floating around. The first three tracks are very good but they still don't strike with the "wow" effect.
The next track "Supersede" is a surprising number. It is a midtempo track, I would even classify it as trance, and it definitely delivers the goods. It has that good euphoria feeling that makes you want to jump just because you want it and brings you that joyful smile.
"Init" starts with a interesting sample which struck me, unpleasantly, first. But then... a gorgeous, a bit experimental, piece starts with melodies, effects floating everywhere throwing you somewhere out of space.
From this track on, the album gets not only beautiful but stunning. The next tracks are extraordinary, quite epic even (some of them). The last track "Polyrytmi" is my favorite here, quite different from all the rest with the percussion and the form of it but magnificently put.
Don't hesitate and order it, you won't regret a single cent.

| CBL didn't disappoint me. When I read that this album was coming, I immediately expected it to be the first really stunning album of the year since couple other artists had failed. But Carbon Based Lifeforms didn't. This album is beautiful, impressive, stunning, awesome... |
