Yea it gives a really good visualization of the hydrodynamic shock front... you can see the separation of it from the water, which is sort of an extrapolation of how it works with the fireball (when the burst is above surface). Normally the shock front would be invisible at that radius as it begins to move faster than the expanding fireball (after inital burst, when the front is actually driven by the fireball using radiative transport).
To get a scale of the front in later test (Baker being only the 5th nuclear detonation in the world) they fired sounding rockets away from the blast that would leave a smoke trail. Cameras across from the explosion on the otherside would capture the shock front as the compressed air created a lense as it passed the smoke, distorting the image.
Another interesting test that shows some cool shock front seperation was Operation Redwing - Seminole Shot which was a low yield (13 kilotons, about Hiroshima sized or half that of Baker roughly) device suspended in a large tank of water...
Very interesting effect on the shockwave. |

yea... such bull. Some girl got charged with child abuse and CP because she took pics of herself masturbating and sent them to a couple guys (also her same age) and this was a few years back, not even the BS sexting .
Ugh puritanical moral bull. |
