I had an interesting experiance while at the ministry of sound in London over the summer, where Pete Tong dropped a track and everyone started making a 'woo woo' sound along to it, and then the song busted out in a similar melody. I was fairly baffled because I had never heard people doing this before in a club, nor had I heard this song before. However, now every time I go to a party where any kind of club where techno or house is played I hear people doing this to every and any song.. its getting pretty old.. can someone shed some light on this or possibly post the song pete might have played.. because i'm guessing since that sound has spread the track must have maid a fair mark upon the dance community.

cheers!

It's got nothing to do with any particular song, and it's not recent. It's been happening for years. It's just something idiots do when they want to get excited about the music but lack the brainpower to express themselves properly.

in Tiesto in Concert 2004 while Adagio 4 strings or one of his classics people start doing it too, screams and this kind of things are often a good indicator for a dj to see if he is having success, unless they're asking for his head...

haha yes but this was more than that... the crowd recognized that Pete Tong was playing a unique song because the song start making that same sound

My thoughts too, think they did this already when I went out late 90's. Actually, after some thinking, this was the track they did it after hearing the first notes.
They weren't idiots, but just people having a great time.
Bomb track, still love it:
