Silk Digital enthusiastically welcomes veteran progressive legend Stefan Anion to its ranks, with the first of several new releases this year. "Imagine" (Original Mix) is a vintage breaks track, originally signed by legendary Toronto-based imprint, Release Records. The moody textures, gurgling bassline, and "classic" breaks progression is reminiscent of Hybrid's early work; in the break, an edgy new lead hook enters the fray, as well as a cavernous oscillating pad effect, both of which combine to create a truly cinematic aural experience. Three years since the original release, the track has received a facelift from Stefan himself in the "2010 Reprise." Replacing the breaks with a deep house rhythm, Stefan has crafted a dark, yet extremely emotional alternate to the original. Rising star 9b0 (Morphosis) also has contributed to the pack, with a furious breaks remix. 9b0's technically brilliant sound design and masterful mixing skills are fullly on display here, as a dizzying array of textural effects "whirl" in and out of the track. Building upon the darker mood of the original, 9b0's mix is especially appealing to modern breakbeat DJ's and fans of more experimental progressive music alike.
