I believe this helps to understand a little more about synthesis:

http://www.computermusic.co.uk/tuto...g/a_sforbeg.asp

Then you can follow the instructions on the soundforum site about synth programming. There are links for that site here:

http://www.studiocovers.com/articles17.htm

A good way to learn more about synth programming is to analyze the sounds that come with your synths.

There are also some books that explain it also:

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/bo...isbn=3927954373

and:

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/te...isbn=024051517X

and this book still has to be released:

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/bo...isbn=0240516931

A Kick is often made by a sine wave b.t.w
