DVD Ripping

I've just started designing my media centre and want to get a head start on ripping all of my DVDs, which I'll eventually be sticking on a NAS box for easy access. As such I would like a ripping program that offers a nice balance between quality rips and ease of use.

I gave 'ImTOO DVD Ripper' a go a while back and was more than pleased with the quality that the rips came out. On the other hand I was equally disappointed that if I stuck in a TV series DVD it would list all of the episodes split up by chapters in one giant list without any indication of where one episode finished and the next began. This made it too much hassle in trying to split them apart into individual episodes. (Where TV episodes are concerned I want one file per episode.)

I've also heard that Easy DVD Ripper (Source Forge) is worth a go but haven't played about with that one yet.

Can anyone with any experience at this sort of thing offer any pearls of wisdom here?

Thanks.

Mikey, this program will rip the DVD's into .ISO's so you can play them as you see fit, from the harddrive. This program will also let you reburn the .ISO's to a blank DVD whenever you'd like.

It's light and easy to use.

If you get stuck with a DVD that has some tougher encryption to overcome, then use Version 2.3.2.0 or earlier. The newer versions have been dumbed down slightly due to legal threats, I presume.

To clarify, the .ISO's should reflect exactly how the original DVD's were setup, so you shouldn't have an issue with Episode Series DVD's, unless you're needing them to be formatted differently from how they were intended?

EDIT: Ahhh. I see you're needing the Episodes to be split up into individual files by themselves. Hmmm. I'm ripping a series DVD right now to see if it's possible to have each episode by itself as a stand-alone. I'll report back once finished to see if this will work for you.

EDIT 2: Both imgburn & DVD Decrypter should pull your DVD's as .ISO's & also as VTS files. The VTS files should be placed out as single episodes on a series or season DVD.

If you need the episodes listed out better than that, I think you'll have to pull the files into something like Adobe Premier and do your own editing from there.

Okay cheers for testing that. I'll give it a go myself and see if it's feasible. I was hoping to have them as standalone avi files, so will see how much of a ball ache it is doing it that way.

Thanks.
