Unfortunately, as we all know, movies based on videogames have all turned out to be bad movies. |

wow, that setup/plot was so cheesy. and baraka and reptile look like . still looks interesting though. |
baraka was by far the worst. in the games, he had a shaved head with horns in the back, giant ears, and no piercings of any kind. he wasn't some dreaded-up asian guy with post-face-lift swelling and a bunch of rings on his cheeks. |

Baraka in the games is a freakish looking mutant with fangs and lantern eyes, a far too cartoonish and horror movie-ish character to portray in a movie that takes the gritty and realistic approach this teaser does. So they made him more human. It's the same reason you wouldn't give a guy playing M. Bison in a Street Fighter-movie a set of humongous shoulder pads like he had in the games - it would make him look like a ridiculous buffoon rather than a serious villain.
This is the problem with making a movie out of video games - a movie director will never have anywhere near the same kind of creative freedom as a video game designer. Thus it becomes nearly impossible to replicate the original ideas the game designer had and live up to the gamers' previous images. |
