Two words - "JAMES HOLDEN."

James Holden is a man of many talents: label boss, trend-setting producer, hugely in-demand monster remixer, and on top of all of this he finds himself at the head of the pack of that very modern breed of DJ, exploiting new technology to the full in order to bring his unique musical vision to life by brazenly uniting tracks from music’s past and present, regardless of scene or genre.

After thoroughly enjoying going INCOGNITO at King King last year, JAMES HOLDEN has decided to come back and launch his newest mix CD that he did with DJ KICKS, a masterfully eclectic mix that includes the 1st SOLO HOLDEN SINGLE in 4 years ‘Triangle Folds’, and his exclusive previously unreleased remix of Mogwai’s ‘The Sun Smells Too Loud’. !

Dont miss the the BORDER COMMUNITY Head and an acknowledged DJ's DJ, who JOSH GABRIEL, former member of Gabriel & Dresden, describes as "A MODERN GENIUS", MARCUS SCHOSSOW calls him "MAGIC" while other DJ's tip him as one of the few great thinkers and innovators of electronic music, thanks to his cutting-edge approach to techno and electronica. In fact, SASHA exclaims, "JAMES HOLDEN IS the music".

Holden’s latest mix CD missive is a musical manifesto that seems particularly well-timed, as the dominance of the minimal monolith finally starts to dwindle and the scenes of those previously neglected countries that have been out-of-shot for the past few years are bearing ripe fruit once again. The assembled gathering of drifters from across the globe represents Holden’s personal recommendation of where the flailing scene might best be driven next. So time to drop everything and join us for another musical journey with the man who is the epitome of being amazing and cutting edge.

Support that night will come from THE APARTMENT DJs (INCOGNITO) with visuals from VJ KRIS BERTRAND (INCOGNITO).

We expect to HIT CAPACITY early this night, so buy your Limited Discount Tickets NOW before they run out and ensure entry for this amazing party. Last year, we had a queue from 10pm to 3am and was King King's biggest night for the past 3 years.

Does anyone have any cool James Holden stories they want to share? I'll share one of mine.

While most of my incredible, intimate, and memorable musical experiences have been seeing a DJ play live at a club on a function one (or even better) sound system, I'd have to say that most of my incredible, intimate, and memorable musical experiences of James Holden have been in the comfort of my home. I can share my story about the first time I heard Balance 005 (in early 2003), but there is another story that stands out a little more at the moment (perhaps because of my current desire of wanting to "escape"). One memorable time in particular, I believe, was in early 2007 - or late 2006 (I think), but who can remember? I downloaded James Holden's Planet Rose live set, but hadn't had the time to listen to it for a few days.

One morning (which I remember clearly), while I was sitting at my office... papers stacked everywhere, clients taking too much energy from me, bosses not appreciating me, multi-tasking to meet deadlines, overwhelming workload - etc, I came to the conclusion that I just couldn't be at work any longer that day. I didn't care that I had to finish projects that were integral for my bosses. My sanity was more important. I knew of one thing that could help me forget everything, to just escape for a little while, to disconnect from the world - and that was to listen to James Holden's Planet Rose set. I decided to pretend I was "sick" and call it an early day. I left work around 11am and drove home.

On my drive home, the anticipation of hearing his Planet Rose set was building up. I couldn't wait to hear what mind-blowing treats he had created & molded together in this set. When I finally got home, I immediately changed into something more comfortable, closed all the windows, doors, blinds, and distractions from the outside world, turned on my computer, and put on his set. I can't exactly tell you what happened much after that point, because I don't really remember mentally or physically being there for the next 3 hours (which is how long the Planet Rose set was). All I can say though, is thank you so much to James Holden, for helping me & giving me the medicine I needed to escape, during my time of need. :)

Does anyone have that set by any chance? I lost it a couple years ago when my computer crashed!
