They can't really blame a "rave" about idiots irresponsible (and stupid) use of drugs.

The article says that 45,000 people were attendance, yet on Global DJ Broadcast World Tour, Markus Schulz said that there were 130k+ people at TAO.

I wonder who provide the false information.

i think it was closer to the lower #...

remember EDC did something like 145K people... over 2 nites! and that included the Coliseum... no way that 50% more people than Sat nite of last year's EDC were at the Sports Arena and grounds for TAO...

This.

The government and media they control can easily build precedent through these type of happenings. These stories are run in the way they are run to create precedent. Heck if they wanted to create a story, they could plant drugs in someones drink, or have someone sell malicious drugs that would kill, then create new legislation against clubs and edm events.

Bottom line is that

Politician wants ppl to know that they care. So they get on the mic or TV and start blasting away making huge promises.

But what really comes down to is that they are just saying it for the rating. They know that the city is hurting and extra cash is better than no extra cash.

Lots of money in the mix here. LA is not about to lose on 6 digit income from massives.

(Its like china, happen, president starts bashing, cops goes on a rampage and public goes crazy. Then few weeks later, everything is back to where its supposed to be)

Markus' show he announced 110k, and during Guetta's lame set he announced 110k

Let's be honest - only GoVentures/Insomniac actually know the real #s. If the fire chief asks, they're gonna tell them the legal number. If DJs or partygoers ask, they're gonna tell them the ego-inflated biggest number possible. It's likely somewhere in the middle.

As far as the drug reports, yeah I was under the impression (especially b/c I used to read ravelinks for the hell of it) that people die or get really ed up all the time at raves. Why it's suddenly making the news I don't know but it could definitely lead to a crack-down on these parties if soccer moms etc start to notice.

I mean let's be honest, if regular people actually knew what raves were, they would be shut down immediately. Most people are on drugs, it's over-crowded, and the police is only there to make sure doesn't get out of hand.

I love massives, but the fact that there are always morons who show up and can't responsibly have a good time is always going to ruin it for everybody else. It's pretty much un preventable. And I've seen some DUMB ASS people at raves (like once in a while I'll talk to some kid that tells me he's taken 10+ pills in one night - wtf?) who can't behave.

I think making these events 21+ would be a huge help (Even though these deaths are from 21+ people), and also selling less tickets so it's not a ing zoo where people have to walk a mile to get a drink of water. But ultimately it's up to the partygoers to take it easy and not ruin it for everybody.

this is why i hate massives. although fun, it just pulls the wrong crowd.

i like your style. i call it population control.

+18 plus should be the requirement for all massives.

The article tries to make ecstasy look bad, but to me it make the drug look good relative to everything else out there, including alcohol.

"The 18 people who were sent to the hospital were between the ages of 16 and 34. In addition to using Ecstasy, 10 had drunk alcohol, and five had also used other drugs."

- So only 3 people out of, say, 30k (assuming two-thirds of the 45,000 attendees used ecstasy) had major issues with ecstasy (0.01%). Even if only 3k people used ecstasy (a ridiculously low number), that still means only 0.1% had major complications. Not bad. I would guess a higher percentage of people drank themselves unconscious that night. They didn't mention how many people received treatment for alcohol poisoning or how many people got into car crashes that night due to alcohol intoxication.

"The 24-year-old man who died at home died of multiple drug intoxication, the CDC said. The man had no chronic illnesses. The man’s friends informed authorities that he had 'used Ecstasy and cocaine at the rave and injected heroin at home afterward.'"

- Mixing is bad folks, especially when you mix and upper (ecstasy and cocaine) with a downer (heroin). Cocaine + heroin is how John Belushi and River Phoenix died.

"Because those sickened had ingested a variety of Ecstasy tablets, health officials concluded that overdose was the cause of their conditions rather than contamination of the drug."

- See, pills are safer than ever from contamination! Just use in moderation and everything will be fine.

The people who died were over 18 (not that you are saying setting the bar at 18+ would have prevented their deaths).
