Not quite

I used to be a sub 11 second 100m sprinter.

I'd be lucky to drive it that quick these days.

I said you can start anything. Never said you would be good.

This is true.
Rodri Santos
i played piano & keyboard, and on the dj part i am not doing nothing right now but my plan is to play some parts with the midi keyboard, additional melodies and that kind of things, i am quite good with this but never had the chance yet to do it live, my keyboard it's 1 meter large :) too big to carry.

I played piano for about 20 years , violin in orchestras when I was younger, guitar and drums in bands till about my late teens, also dj'd for a few years but ended up settling on composition as I had a nasty habit of drinking and drugging whenever the situation presented itself which was way too often.

TMI :nervous:

I played live for most of my adult and got into production surprisingly late. I played trumpet, bass, and keys in middle/high school bands. I supported myself and put myself through 3 college degrees (BA in theory/composition, BS/MS in aquatic biology) by working as live and session musician (and bass instructor) from 1986-2001. That's when I finished college and my wife and I moved to Cali for new jobs. I pretty much made the decision at that point to give up live performances and that's when I started producing at home (~2003). I've played in a few bands since then, but nothing too serious and I don't really have much interest in it these days - I miss playing live, but I don't miss everything that goes along with it - setup/tear down, relatively crappy pay, unreliable clients/clubs, dealing with agents, etc.

I also spent much of my live music days as a FOH soundman for several clubs/bands. I think that actually may have given me a bigger headstart in production than being a musician did, since I was already familiar with mixing boards, EQs, compressors, signal paths, etc.

I think any musical grounding helps with solo home based production really. My own musical experience was 10 years of classical piano as a kid and then 3-4 years just messing about with a band in my late teens/early 20s and really nothing again until about 2 years ago when I started (what I didn't know at the time) was a massive uphill learning curve.

i played the piano for 10 years or so and i didn't get much music background, i was young though maybe this is the reason, i think i've learnt more this year i started producing.

im gonna play live. period.

I tend to play Live Sax with a lot of my dj sets, and I'm currently trying to incorporate a new wind synth into my dj sets too. :)

I'm also working on something a little different for a festival booking over the summer which has myself djing/sax/wind synth, a guy on trumpet, and another guy on Uileann Pipes/Whistle/Bodhrán(Traditional Irish Instruments)....should have potential to be a great show all going well! :D

Quick sample of what to expect with my live shows...
