Hey guys,
I'll come straight to the point: I'm not an active member of this forum and this is actually my first post here. Mixing as a bedroom DJ for quite a while now, two years ago I had the idea to try something new and to include a broad range of styles in my mix series "Sternstunde" in a very unconventional way. With the fifth edition in the pipeline, I wanna share last year's episode with those of you who enjoy as much as I the diversity of music - be it electronic or non. When I first made it public in another forum, it was widely appreciated and so I thought that it's worth to introduce the mix series to another circle of potentially interested listeners.
This set might be very different from what you are used to hear, but maybe you wanna give it a try. Melancholic and cheerful at once - that's how I would describe the atmosphere of the mix. And as it happens, the sound fits a hot summer night just fine...

i listened to it. track selection overall is ok, but the set really sounds like a mess in terms of progression. it makes sense how you want to establish mood and shift focus from one kind of thing to another, but the jumps are so large and so frequent that it's hard to get any kind consistent flow in listening. i find i have to constantly readjust to the next track instead of being led into it. The second half of the mix flows better than the first i think, but that's because you stayed mostly in dance music and were able to set up some kind of progression from track to track.
the attempt is not bad, but overall the mix lacks tightness, coherency. it would be very cool to hear later volumes where you focus more on development. |

Hey pozz, the last couple of weeks I was pretty busy with my exams and stuff so I didn't find the time to respond earlier.
First of all: Many thanks that you took the time to listen to my mix and give some constructive critique. Interestingly, you point out the very same aspects that struck me as well in retrospective. I'm still very satisfied with the overall quality of the tracks but as you write, the sequence of the tracks really lacks coherency.
Anyway, in the meantime I finished the fifth edition of the "Sternstunde" series and this time I tried to take account of the consistency problem. I will upload the new mix soon and then post the link. Maybe you wanna give it a listen; I would be thrilled to read your opinion if I succeeded. |
