Lots of great sound designers out there, but they don't get much attention. Who do you guys like?

A few sound designers really get my attention, particularly Rob Lee and Bigtone. They both have a good knack for exploring the depths of synths, but keeping it musical and usable. I particularly like supporting Rob's stuff because he keeps his banks affordable and because whenever I study the patches in his soundsets, I pick up a few neat tricks that I use in my own sounds. Howard Scarr is another guy who I respect a lot, although I haven't seen much from him in the past few years. He adds a lot of interesting and usable expression (e.g., modwheel, aftertouch) to his patches.

Anakratis is a great up-and-coming sound designer as well. His Sylenth1 banks are excellent for trance/dance and pretty much every patch inspires me to play. I hope to see him branch off into other synths.

Having heard some of this guy's music and the way his sounds sit in the mix, you can tell he's got some serious chops in this regard.

Big fan of the Howard Scarr Virus pack. Raw patches that don't have to be stripped down to be able to be used, yet they sound amazing without the need to be washed in FX. Very, very talented dude.

Arksun's a good one.

Anakratis and Rob Lee f'shizzle, but those Alan Marcero hardware demos on Youtube give me goosebumps every time.
