Robotic Voice Effect (Question)

I might be posting this in the wrong section. I've mostly lurked here because, well, I love trance. If it's in the wrong place, my apologies (feel free to move it).

I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have been trying to make a specific robotic voice effect using Audacity. The effect is the same one that appears briefly at the beginning of this video and at the end (it's a Britain's Got Talent one).

I've heard the effect before in some trance tunes (the names of which I've forgotten; one by trance[]control) and in movies and what not. It's common, but when you try to find tutorials on how to make this particular sound you come up with mostly nothing (a lot of robotic voice effect tutorials are on YouTube, but they're all for different kinds of effects, and nothing close to this one).

So, I'm asking if anyone has any idea where I might find a tutorial for this sound, or if someone knows how to make it. I'd like to use it in a podcast I'm doing with a friend. We originally wanted a robotic voice in the intro and outro sections, but the effects we managed to make were just awful...

So, if anyone can help, that would be fantastic. Thanks ahead of time!

A vocoder or a ring modulator would be ideal. You can try the vocoder included with Audacity.

Check out FL Studios Vocodex, I find it pretty cool and easy to use.

The carrier for the vocoded(?) sound can be controlled via piano roll easily.
