Anybody know how to set up external instruments on the imac or mac in logic 8? Im using a midisport uno to connect my jp8000 to the mac through usb. I haven't used my jp8000 in 18 months and last time I used it I was on a PC with cubase. I can get it working as a midi controller but i can't get the sounds to play out of it.
Any Suggestions?

| Do you have the audio outputs on the JP connected to your audio interface? |

| i am using the onboard soundcard so the monitors and jp8000 are both running phono to jack into a splitter into the imac. Anyway now ive lost all sound in my track except for my pads on the es2 and haven't a ing clue what i've changed. It all seemed so good getting the jp8000 up and running at the time now my track is muted! |

No it's not. You just need a dual input monitor control or a small mixer.
Even then, you can always just play the synth through the mac (but obviously it won't work unless the mac is always on whenever you want to play it. |

but if u play the synth through the mac speakers you not going to get a good representation of what your recording. I like to automate the jp while im recording and its just not possible to judge sounds correctly through the built in speakers. |

| The way I use my Virus B is audio out to a mixer channel then mixer master out to soundcard where it's audio is mixed with vsts's, samples etc by the sequencer software mixer. I then run my monitors directly from the soundcard audio out as they are active monitors. Any help to you? As someone else said a small mixer is ideal for this, I use a behringer xenyx 1002, cost me £30 on eBay. |

I'm not talking about that. Have it come in to your mac, then open any music program (audacity, logic, whatever) and set it to monitor (in logic this would be input monitoring). You can then play your JP through the mac to your monitors. You can then also play and record the JP in to your sequencer without having to unplug anything. |
