No, the deeper I dig, the more I realise that if I am struggling to create a certain sound, it has nothing to do with the synth but more to do with my own capabilities. Better to take this attitude and learn one synth inside out, than instantly look for another synth the moment I struggle to create the sound I am after.

Yeahhhh but the Virus is so damn complex that it makes learning quite difficult. I learned synthesis on a Nord Lead 3. I hope you're at least using the Virus' VSTi interface. That makes it bearable but still overly complex.

Yes I do use the vst interface, I've never known why people find the virus complicated, I've always found it very intuitive.

By the way, I'm not some virus fanboy, most of the points I've made in this thread have been applicable to any synth, not just the virus.

Maybe it's more cluttered than complicated. The synth in general, that is. There's so many features that I found it difficult to decide on one for a patch. I guess that's kind of complaining about it being too versatile, but I found that through all of the different waveforms, filters, etc, they didn't really sound all that different from one another.

+1

Granted, the interfaces on the Nords, Waldorfs, Novations, etc. are probably even more straightforward by comparison.

try virus rack xl without sounddiver. lol. seriously its really lol. hahaha. i die when i think of it. id love to have the time in the world to learn a synth like that properly, it would be the geekiest thing ever.
