Ear Fatigue (pg. 2)

ear fatigue appears mostly at clubs, you start noticing a whistling sound on your ears, which is the reaction of your nerves to protect themselves from the loud noise.
If you produce with low volume this shouldn't appear, however my producing sessions are often shorter than 30 minutes or so, i usually fix some tasks, do them and play a game, watch tv or in short disconnect, after that another 30 minutes and again.
What drives me mad is that i have a 2'7ghz quad core processor and when i have more than 20 layers the sound becomes so rough... so i usually export it and listen on headphones or my big speakers to see if it's working or not. |

No, not all. The pun was referring to the "sound" advice - sorry, maybe it's a language thing. ;) |

I've read or heard somewhere that Tinnitus can be caused from another way, and not exactly from exposure to loud sound or noise. Something in the brain that triggers the tinnitus, rather than the ear itself. I wonder if this way could be used as a weapon, or was being R&D for war purpose to give people tinnitus, as means to weaken the opposing army.

Dunno if I'd believe that. Tinnitus is usually caused from over exposure to loud noise, particularly sub-bass frequencies. It can also come from ear infections, foreign objects or wax inside the ear, nose allergies and even a side effect from some medications.
To put it simply, inside the ear there are thousands of minute hairs that vibrate in response to sound waves, thus giving us the sense of hearing. With tinnitus these hairs have been damaged/flattened and give a false signal to the brain which causes the perception of sounds/noise that is not present.
I suffer from tinnitus and for myself it's most noticeable when things are quiet or there is silence. |

| No Left Turn |
| I try to take 10-15 minute breaks every 30-45 minutes. My tinnitus is out of control and ear fatigue kicks in a lot quicker for me compared to most other people. It's unfortunate, but it's what I've gotta deal with. |

No no no no no. Your advice was good.
The term "sound advice" means the same thing as "good advice". I was agreeing with you, dammit! :D |

They have all sorts of weapons these days, pretty sure I read something about a weapon that causes hearing damage/loss. And recently in the news there was talk about a microwave weapon being used in Afghanistan. Non lethal but burns the skin, and causes dispersal of the enemy.

I'm sure there are more subtle methods than that particular weapon. |
