3rd-party compressors (good for Logic?)

I've in had it with the built-in compressors that comes with Logic Studio. I know, it's been long enough where I should have got something better than this a long time ago.

Anyone have good suggestions with 3rd-party compressors? Side-chaining capabilities is essential. (some compressors don't have it..dunno why). It would be even better if you can vouch for them working well in Logic Studio.

Thanks for any help!!

I love FabFilter Pro-C. They have a demo available.

It has sidechaining capabilities, but I'm on a PC, so I can't vouch for its performance in Logic.

Well I don't think there are any non VST3 compressors that have sidechain. And theres not really any VST3 compressors out yet, and I don't think logic even supports them. So you're basically stuck with logic's compressor for sidechaining AFAIK. Maybe audio units can handle sidechaining, I'm not sure about that.

For colourful compressors, you probably should look at waves ones, or cytomic's the glue compressor for cheap. Its supposedly just as good as the waves one.

Sonalksis are great workhorses are a little bit coloured, so they're good to use for a go-to compressor. Flux's ones are also supposedly really good, for something more transparent. Fabfilter's pro C is also in that category too from what I understand.

of course we're talking about AudioUnits which supports sidechain since its introduction. there are VST2 sidechain compressors also. but they are pain to use in Cubase - that's why there aren't any good commercial ones.

+1 for Pro-C

Stillwell Audio The Rocket and Bombardier. Not 100% if you can sidechain them in Logic, though. You can download demos for them and see. The Softube CL-1B and FET compressors are also pretty awesome as well.
