DJ Spooky has said that much of his work "deals with the notion of the encoded gesture or the encrypted psychology of how music affects the whole framework of what the essence of 'humaness' [sic] is... To me at this point in the 21st century, the notion of the encoded sound is far more of a dynamic thing, especially when you have these kinds of infodispersion systems running, so I'm fascinated with the unconscious at this point."

The power of music and its effect on the human mind is a fascinating topic for neuroscientists exploring the gateway to the mysteries of the brain. But can science explain everything there is to know about music? THE MUSICAL BRAIN is a new one-hour original CTV documentary that illuminates how the brain uses music to shape the human experience. Featuring insights from Grammy® Award-winning musicians Sting and, Wyclef Jean; Grammy and JUNO Award-winner Michael Bublé; and seven-time JUNO Award-winner Feist, this riveting documentary reveals how music is interpreted by those who create it and those who listen to it.

Using the research findings of leading medical experts, including Dr. Daniel Levitin (This is Your Brain on Music), the documentary examines the physical, psychological and emotional responses to music through a variety of tests on children and adults. THE MUSICAL BRAIN also features candid interviews with Michael Bublé, Feist, Wyclef Jean and Sting who share what they have learned about the power of music in their lives.

In addition to discussing his passion for music, Sting puts his own musical mind to the test when he enters an fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine to have his brain scanned. Inspired by Dr. Daniel Levitin's book, Sting undergoes tests to find out how music affects him on a physical and emotional level. Using state-of-the-art technology, THE MUSICAL BRAIN demonstrates how Sting responds to various types of music - complex and simple - and what his musical brain reveals about him.

"Music is a gateway to emotion and memory, pleasure and intellectual stimulation throughout our lives," says writer and director Christina Pochmursky. "THE MUSICAL BRAIN follows Sting on his journey of discovery into his own musical brain, and also explores how music can define each stage of our lives."

"This riveting documentary sheds light on the human musical experience and how science is teaching us more about it," says Bob Culbert, Vice-President of CTV Documentaries. "The stories shared by the participating artists will resonate with viewers who understand the power of music in their own lives."

i know, lol sting, but it was an amazing documentary. there is a certain "blueprint" of beats that is pleasing to every single one of us. like:

classical

rnb

house

and so on. black water was the last song played at systems (har-har), brilliantly delivered by danny. you know, one of those "wow" moments.

now, there is a list of some 100 songs that pretty much are all "wow" moments. we're all different, with completely different tastesesesss when it comes to music. so how come, when it comes to these songs, we are all into them??

check this out. answer as fast as possible, with as little thinking as possible:

1+6=
2+5=
3+4=
4+3=
5+2=
6+1=
and now tell me the first vegetable that comes across your mind??

97% of the people will say carrot and nobody knows why.

i hope that answered your question, no matter how weird did it sound.
