...to Toronto. That's right, I will most likely be relocating to the GTA. You may all thank your lucky stars now.
On that note, I'm going to be going to U of T in the downtown campus and I need advice of which areas of the City are safe enough, cheap, hopefully close to downtown, and where more young peeps live. |

good to see you coming to toronto to cause some havok, stereoprincess. Now it's time to throw away your Sens jerseys and pick up some blue and white.
A lot of people have some misconception that downtown toronto is dangerous, not so. I don't think you'll have any trouble finding a place near U of T campus, won't be cheap though. |

No ?
Cool! :)
I remember meeting you at Sasha & Digweed...
You'll have an awesome time :toocool: |

Well, you can get a relatively cheap and safe place near campus, but only if you don't mind living in a cruddy place. You have to find a roommate unless you just want to rent a room in somebodies house, as bachelor apartments will run you around $1000+ a month.
If you're going to U of T you should really look into residence. It's reasonably priced, and it's a great way to meet lots of people. |

Highly doubt that will be happening!!
Leafs = crap!!
Can't move to rez. Cuz its too late plus I'm going to graduate school so rez life might be a diversion.
I really don't want to live in a horrible cruddy place!! I need to do some research. |

What's your budget?
Just for a reference, the big apartment building on Spadina across from the grad residence is about $1800/month for a 2 bedroom place. Very pricy... |

Being right down town is very pricey indeed.
I used to live in Etobicoke which is about a 20min subway ride from downtown.
It was the second last subway stop going West.
Area was nice and highly recommend it.
True it's not right downtown, but it's cheaper and at least the convience of a 24hr bus (along Bloor St.) route to back home from the bars is available (and of course the subway line, but that stops at like 1:30am or something like that).
Just something to think about.
I've lived right downtown for a coop for 4 months once during the summer. Too many damn distractions if you're going to study I think.
But you might be more disciplined than I was at school :p
Just ask if you want some more info. :tongue2 |

You mean in Etobicoke?
Stay near the Subway route and the area is nice.
Lived there 4 years and never had any complaints.
Go to far South (past QEW) and the area is questionable (government housing and stuff).
Too far North (past 401) looks a little dicey too.
The middle is juuuuuust right.

hey congrats, I guess we'll be seeing you out more often!
As for cheap places around toronto downtown it will probably cost you anywhere from $500 (if you are lucky) - $700 and up, but that's if you move in with a room mate. I don't know if any of the newspapers post their classifieds on line but check out www.torontostar.com
good luck with finding a flat!
once again congrats and see you soon!
