Buss compressors

I hear so much about the UAD plugins and especially the UAD buss compressor which glues the mix together or individual group channels. I am wondering do you guys know of any alternative or similar types of compressors for cheaper price as I am looking for a good analog sounding compressor that is aimed at glueing elements together. I bought the Nomad Factory British Bundle but Im not sure that compressor is the same type of compressor??

tbh, I'm using more and more of the built in logic lougs and find myself reaching for the logic compressor more often than I like to admit. It just does what it says on the tin and so much in so many ways.

You could try "the glue" compressor but I also sometimes use the PSP vintage plugs for glueing as they have good soft kneee comp settings in there.

You've always got the waves Rcomp - it's nearly too soft knee for me but it does get nice results sometimes.

I can't think of anymore right now but I know Ry has a lot of experience with the UAD comps......

If you're going for UAD comps try

- Neve 33609
- SSL 4k
- Precision Buss
- Fairchild

All will give good results

Waves SSL Buss Comp

piece of cake.

the Neve 33609 from UAD (I have it) is as good as it gets in my opinion, but it's going to put you out of pocket quite a bit more than the SSL pack from Waves.

Here are some awesome and cheaper alternatives:

The Glue - http://www.cytomic.com/glue (SSL Bus Compressor Emulation)
Bombardier - http://www.stillwellaudio.com/?page_id=342
T-Racks 670 - http://www.ikmultimedia.com/trsingl...o/moreinfo2.php (Fairchild Emulation)

If your on a budget, have a look into Cytomic's the glue or stillwell audio's plugins. I'm not in love with the Tracks one, but its ok too.

Waves are good if you can afford them. Their API 2500 emulation is brilliant.

Do you mean that you didn't like the T-Racks 670 compressor? Surprisingly, I preferred it over the UAD version. I stopped using Waves a couple years ago so never compared that one.

All of the Tracks compressors were a bit annoying I found. Lack of ratio in the fairchild 670 emulation = DNW. I know its more authentic, but the idea of software is the conveniance IMO.

The opto emulation is similarly annoying IMO, it just doesn't have the tonal range that you get out of the waves 2500.
