Michael Jackson was an excellent performer. Trent Reznor, too. They both come to mind as men who assumed as much control over their live performances as possible- perhaps to an obsessive degree at times, but they both worked very, very hard to make the most out of what resources were available to them.
The last time I saw Skinny Puppy live, they were ing stellar. They put on an astounding show of lights, video, and props, and have an immense history of various other tours in which they utilized many of the same elements in extremely creative fashion. They put on a much better show than NIN, and out of (literally) 1/18th of the buses full of that it took Trent.
A friend of mine swears up and down that Thrill Kill Kult puts on the absolute best shows he's ever been to. The charisma and energy of the band make an immense difference, it's rarely about venue or crowd size, but the heart of the people performing to you.
I don't think this thread is asking who your favourite artists are, but who puts on the best performance. There is a difference. Of course, chlola may not be thinking that, so whatever. Put down people who spin records before big crowds. |
